Our 7", 10" and 13" birds are made with hardwood with a stainless steel rod running the entire length to ensure maximum strength. They are painted with a durable acrylic paint. It is not unusual to see hairline cracks appear in the paint from extended use as the wood will have a tendency to retain some moisture causing the wood to expand and contract slightly. This does not at all affect the performance of the bird teaser in any way.
